Final Fantasy 6 + Full Metal Alchemist OPED AMV

Check out this amazing AMV by someone from Nicovideo! He spliced the OP and EDs of Full Metal Alchemist and placed in characters from Final Fantasy 6! Very nostalgic. XD

Now that they’ve announced Chrono Trigger for the DS, I wonder if they’re planning to release FF6 for it too… I mean when it comes to epic oldschool RPGs Final Fantasy 6 definitely tops the list! Well, wishful thinking helps. :D

Square Enix unveils Chrono Trigger DS

Perhaps the biggest news of the year for me, Square Enix officially revealed that they’re working on a Nintendo DS port of one of the greatest games ever: Chrono Trigger! This RPG broke new grounds when it was released for the Nintendo SNES with it’s epic story, unique battle system and memorable characters designed by famed manga artist Akira Toriyama (Dragon Ball)!

It’s also one of the first RPGs I’ve played with multiple endings, and it was a blast to get through all of them. News on Chrono Trigger DS first surfaced on a Japanese gaming magazine, and afterwards a website was put up with a flash clock reminiscent of the one in Chrono Trigger’s opening sequence fuelling the fire that there will be a Chrono Trigger game for the DS. Square Enix NA stepped up and admitted that a localized version will be released on December 2008! Chrono Trigger is touted as one of the greatest RPGs of all time, and it’s great that a whole new generation of gamers will be able to experience it!

Screw Diablo III and Starcraft 2! CHRONO TRIGGER IS TEH SHIT!

Video Game Music Covers ROCK!

I’m a huge fan of video game music, and I know it sounds dorky but I probably listen to them more than any other form of music. I also enjoy it when people do amazing covers of these songs. Here’s a couple of videos featuring amazing covers.

Here’s a rockin’ rendition of one of my favorite video game BGMs of all time, the theme from the Dr. Wily´s Castle stage from Megaman 2:

And here’s a couple more. Make sure to check out the one ranked first on the competition, he does the Super Mario Bros. theme using a flute and beatboxing. Flippin’ sweet!

A review of EA’s Need for Speed Prostreet

I got my hands on Electronic Arts’ latest version of their Need for Speed blockbuster series, Prostreet yesterday and I spent all day playing it and felt the need to share my experience.

Here, you have to build the ultimate battle machine, take it to multidisciplinary showdowns and pit your skills and reputations against the world’s best street racers.  The Need for Speed Prostreet is a racing experience like no other. For the first time, you’re designing and building a car, compete in iconic locations from around the world and battling in four distinct racing styles, grip, drag, drift and the all-new speed challenge.

The atmosphere is electric, complete with energetic crowds, photo-realistic vehicles and billowing smoke - all designed to embody the pressure and intensity of the gladiatorial challenge known as Show Down.  Prostreet is the realization of the power, aggression and rivalry that embodies street racing culture.

Super Robot Wars Z Announced!

There’s just one game that can satisfy my hunger for super robot action, and that’s the long-running crossover strategy game Super Robot Wars. Just last week Banpresto announced the latest version for the Playstation 2, Super Robot Wars Z, and here’s the list of titles that’ll come up:

Overman King Gainer
The Big O
The Big O 2nd Season
Zambot 3
Daitarn 3
Xabungle
Zeta Gundam
Char’s Counterattack
Gundam X
Turn A Gundam
Gundam SEED Destiny
Mazinger Z
Great Mazinger
Getter Robo G
Grendizer
God Sigma
Aquarion
Eureka Seven
Orguss
Baldios
Gravion
Gravion Zwei

I’m really excited about the shows announced to show up, in particular Aquarion, King Gainer and Eureka 7. The Big O will also be making it’s debut on the PS2. So far everything’s shaping up great… this might even be better than Super Robot Wars Alpha 3!
